Daily Echo Readers Come Up Trumps For Bridie!

Two local companies have come forward after hearing about the plight of a young Leukemia sufferer in Poole as featured in the Echo on Monday 3rd May. Swalings International School of Swimming are organising a sponsored swim on behalf of one their young students, Bridie Armstrong – aged 6.
Bridie has recently been diagnosed with Leukemia, and is currently undergoing treatment in Poole and Southampton Hospitals.
Swalings young swimmers are undertaking a sponsored swim to raise money to buy Bridie a DVD player for her to use whilst traveling to and from Southampton for her treatment.
Only last week the youngsters swam over 60 miles collectively – with the aim of swimming enough miles to equate to traveling to Scotland and back, all within the next two months.
One young swimmer said, “Its great because we’re practicing our swimming as well as raising money for our friend Bridie”.
Following an appeal two local companies have come forward offering to donate valuable items direct to Bridie.
Colin Fisher from Liverpool Victoria has kindly donated a PC to Bridie and her family including some games for her to play. Colin says, “This is such a great cause that I thought I really want to help. I hope it helps Bridie in some way.”
Jason Strong Managing Director of Security First has very kindly donated the very DVD player that the money was being raised for, as well as some movies to watch. Jason comments, “I know how much enjoyment my kids get our of their DVD players when they’re in the car – so I wanted to help Bridie take her mind off of the treatments she currently undergoing.”
As well as all that people have been sending money direct into Swalings specifically for the fund. Barry Aldrick from Swalings says “The response we’ve had is great. If anyone else would like to help please do give us a ring here at Swalings. Thanks also to all those people that have helped already – its fantastic”.
All the money now raised can be put towards the two hospitals that treat Bridie on a very regular basis – Poole and Southampton Hospitals.
